WHAT IS INCLUDED AND WHAT TO EXPECT:
The week is open to 12 students to ensure the best experience and quality instruction. Includes all instruction, aprons, clay, tools, underglazes, choice of glaze colors, post-production and firings.
Please send your child with their own water bottle with their name on it.
Each day, instructors safely prepare everything ahead of time. At the end of the day, instructors will guide the kids through a super quick clean up of their stations (Don’t worry - we’ll also save time to wash all the clay off their hands.). Staff will handle the major clean up once everyone has been picked up.
When the week is over, your child’s projects will stay at the studio. Staff will do all the post-production - glazing and firing. Once all your child’s projects are finished, the staff will contact you for pick-up.

**Please allow about 6-8 weeks for your child’s pottery to go through the entire firing post-production process. There will be so many awesome projects, we want to make sure everyone’s work is successful.**
-
FIRST DAY: For your child’s safety, on the first day of each session, guardians MUST come and greet the teacher and sign your child into class. After the first day, you may let the instructor know of any pick-up or drop-off changes. Safety first!
DROP OFF: Each day of your child’s session, arrive at Bitter Root Pottery 10 minutes before 10am. (Don’t forget a water bottle)
PLEASE SHOW UP ON TIME! The class will still start and end at the listed time.
PICK UP: Pick up your child at 12:30pm - No later than 12:40pm! Please pick up your child on time so staff can clean and prepare the studio for the next classes.
-
Each child should have their own water bottle with their name on it.
Come dressed comfortably with masks, long hair tied back and nice jewelry and watches removed (they won’t get hurt but it is a pain to clean the clay off!).
The clay will wash out and we do provide clean aprons; but wear clothes you don’t mind getting clay on.
And just a friendly tip - long nails are not pottery-friendly because the process involves so much of your hands and fingers. -
Parking is street parking (metered and non-metered), please pay attention to the street signs.
-
ATTENTION BITTER ROOT POTTERY STUDENTS:
By reserving a class at Bitter Root, you acknowledge that you have read the waiver below and agree to all terms and conditions, rules and guidelines on this entire page (including wearing proper face-coverings and NO REFUNDS OR RESCHEDULES)
Please allow at least five-eight (6-8) weeks for you pottery to complete the firing process. Staff will contact you when all your child’s pottery is ready to be picked up. From the time of your contact, you have 30 days to come pick up your child’s pottery. After 30 days, their work may not be available for pick-up as we need to clear room for new student work.
OCCASIONALLY, PIECES DO NOT MAKE IT THROUGH THE FIRING PROCESS DUE TO AIR BUBBLES, CONSTRUCTION ISSUES, ETC. OCCASIONALLY, FIRINGS DO NOT GO AS PLANNED AND GLAZES MAY COME OUT DIFFERENT THAN EXPECTED. STAFF CANNOT CONTROL THE RESULTS OF FIRING ONCE A POT IS IN THE KILN. THIS IS SIMPLY THE NATURE OF THE IMPERFECT CERAMIC PROCESS. COMPLETED PIECES ARE NOT GUARANTEED.
REFUNDS WILL NOT BE ISSUED IF A PIECE DOES NOT MAKE IT.
You are coming to Bitter Root Pottery for the whole experience of working in a ceramics studio with a knowledgeable, friendly instructor! Our instructors have been working for years in this discipline to get to the skills they have today. These skills cannot be imparted in one session. So while you may have ideas of making a perfect bowl, we encourage you to put those expectations down and focus on enjoying the entire experience of working with clay and engaging with the creative process so in-depth.
-
Because each week can only have a certain amount of students and teachers are getting materials in advance based on reservations, we do NOT offer refunds or reschedules.
Please make sure you book for the correct week before you pay!
